2021 had an positive end to the year at The Landscape Service, with the business taking on a number of exciting projects throughout Hampshire, Dorset, and Surrey and RHS award-winning designer James Smith joining the company.
Towards the end of 2021, we launched our new website which will features a range of projects as well as an in-depth description of our creative processes, company profile and new blog page to feature weekly project updates, industry content and articles.
During the year we worked on numerous commercial projects with local developers in the surrounding counties where the team have designed many successful landscape schemes on multiple housing developments. There has also been an influx of large scale, high end, private residential projects in Dorset and Hampshire which we look forward to commencing in the January.
In the November issue of ProLandscaper, James was interviewed and featured in the 30 under 30 update where he discussed his career before he won the award in 2019 and his progress since winning a silver medal in the young designer’s competition at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.
For their first event in London, James was on a panel alongside other renowned garden designers for November’s Futurescape event. James and the rest of the panel discussed how our plant selection is developing and adapting to the ever-changing climate as well as the use of native plants.
Over the last few years Luke has been working on a unique complex of properties in Poole, Dorset, featuring four luxury houses all with direct views of Old Harry Rocks and the Sandbanks Peninsula.
We are working directly with the property developer and the new homeowners producing drawings for planning followed by full creative garden design, planting design and construction detailing.
In October and November Luke and James have worked on some extremely exciting developments within Croydon which has a strict design guide for all new developments. This is where the Urban Greening Factor (A calculation that works out how much green space you need per person and per the size of the proposed development) comes in. We also work with play space calculations as this is also required for new developments.
2022 has started well with an influx of new instructions of private and commercial projects.
We look forward to designing a new 300-home development in Weymouth, a unique scheme where we can be part of a team that helps bring a whole new community together in Dorset.
We have also been instructed on two private residential projects. The first being situated in the heart of the New Forest on a new modern eco-home. The second, located in Poole, Dorset, is a unique redevelopment of a house that hasn’t been lived in since the 80’s.
Throughout the year we will be continuing to work with a number of existing and new property developers in the heart of Poole and Dorset, and are looking forward to working with them on more schemes in the up and coming months.
