Landscape Design

We concentrate our design process on the way people live, work and play in the urban environment, creating sustainable landscapes for the local community of the project.

Working on a variety of private and public-sector developments that include housing developments, public realm, health & leisure and charitable schemes, we collaborate with property developers, architects and planning consultants providing creative and detailed design solutions that shape our towns and cities.

We have a deep understanding of the local environment working with planning authorities across Hampshire, Poole & Dorset, and regularly liaise with local authorities producing landscape schemes on applications such as housing developments, healthcare, commercial and public spaces.

The Landscape Service offer landscape design packages that include:

  • Landscape design for pre-app and full application
  • Release of landscape related planning conditions
  • Biodiversity Net gain
  • Urban Greening Factor
  • Hard landscaping plans
  • Soft landscaping plans
  • Landscape management plans

Sectors

We have expertise in developing sustainable landscapes from single unit developments to large scale housing. We work closely with our clients and related professionals producing hard and soft landscaping schemes to support planning applications and the release of any landscape related planning conditions following approval.

We regularly work on a number of spaces for health & leisure, learning and later living, creating user specific landscapes and gardens. This also includes sensory gardens for disabled users of varying mental and physical abilities to create relaxing and healing spaces.

Following early engagement with local authorities and public consultation with communities we work with public sector clients to design a variety of mixed use spaces from open parks, public realm and urban spaces.

Planning

We have an excellent skillset within the planning sector. We regular work along side other consultants to assist you on pre-applications, full applications and release of planning conditions. We have extensive understanding of the sites that we work on, dealing with SuDs, T.P.O’s, AONB as well as conservation areas.

With new legislation coming in as part of the 2021 Environment Act, we at The Landscape Service have the knowledge to assist your project in achieving the 10% biodiversity net gain target. We will work alongside other consultants such as local planners and ecologist to create a successful and biodiverse landscape design for your development.

Urban Greening Factor is used to calculate the quality and quantity of existing and proposed landscaping on new developments to improve urban greening. It enables developments to demonstrate how they have included urban greening as a fundamental element of design at the planning stage. We have studied and researched what is required to complete and Urban Greening Factor plan that correlates with The London Plan. The inclusion of urban greening measures in new developments will result in an increase in green cover and should be integral to planning the layout and design of new buildings and developments.
