Naomi House, Sensory Garden

We are proud to be working on such an amazing project for Naomi House in Winchester.

These creative design proposals for a new sensory garden will to provide multiple spaces for play and therapy for the children and young adults, and has been designed to engage the senses and allow children to experience nature while staying at the hospice.

The playground will include wheelchair accessible swings, roundabout, and musical instruments such as bongo drums and chimes, surrounded with sensory planting.

The communal spaces include wheelchair accessible seating areas and ample space to accommodate hospital beds with plenty of electrical points to charge equipment such as breathing apparatus so the children are not limited to their time outside. A small Amphitheatre will provide an outside classroom space for learning and reading.

Large paths through the soft landscaping will allow the children to interact with the planting. Seating in these areas have been designed for private one to one learning spaces with chalk boards.

New wheelchair accessible planters will be installed around the existing chicken run, allowing children of all disabilities to engage with gardening, growing fruit and vegetables for family and charity days.
